2 men charged following gunpoint robbery, police chase in Toronto; Cops probing east-end assaults

A Toronto man and a Whitby man are facing a slew of charges following a gunpoint robbery and a dramatic police chase on Saturday.
Toronto Police said they responded at about 3:20 p.m. to a call for a person with a gun in the Bathurst and Richmond Sts. area.
Police alleged that the two accused approached two victims and robbed them at gunpoint before fleeing the area in a stolen vehicle.
Cops located and attempted to stop both accused in the vehicle. However, police said the vehicle fled from officers, resulting in a collision.
The accused fled their vehicle on foot, and, while being pursued by officers, one of the accused allegedly attempted to carjack another vehicle but was unsuccessful.
As police tried to arrest the accused, one of the accused allegedly pointed a loaded firearm at officers.
Officers arrested both accused and seized two loaded firearms.
Tajae-J’nye Samuel-Maragh, 23, of Toronto, was charged with a dozen offences, most of which were weapons-related.
Kingslee Ivan Christie, 29, of Whitby, was charged with 16 mostly weapons-related offences.
Police are looking to speak with any witnesses who observed or interacted with the accused, or recorded the event on their phone.

Cops probing pair of east-end assaults
Police are investigating a pair of unrelated alleged assaults in the city’s east end.
Toronto Police said they responded to a call on Saturday at about 9:10 p.m. for a sexual assault in the Gerrard St. E.-Coxwell Ave. area.
Police alleged that in May, the victim was with the suspect when the suspect sexually assault them, them produced a firearm and pointed it at the victim.
Devon Plooard, 21, of Toronto, is wanted for two counts of sexual assault, pointing a firearm, and voyeurism.
He is described as 5-foot-6 with light brown hair and blue eyes.

Police were also called on Friday at about 10 p.m. for an unrelated assault call in the same area.
Cops alleged that the victim and suspect got into a verbal altercation and the suspect assaulted the victim.
Muhammad Yasin, 26, of Toronto, is wanted for two counts assault, assault – choking, and two counts of fail to comply release order.
He is described as 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 with a medium build, short black hair and short black facial hair.

31-year-old canoeist from Mississauga found dead near Bracebridge, Ont.
A 31-year-old from Mississauga who had gone missing after a canoe capsized on a lake near Bracebridge, Ont. on Saturday night has been found dead.
Ontario Provincial Police said emergency crews were called shortly after 8 p.m. to Stewart Lake in the Township of Georgian Bay for reports of a capsized canoe.
Police said two people were on board the vessel when it overturned about 40 feet from the shore.
One person was rescued by a passing boater. Meanwhile, the other went underwater and did not resurface.
Police said that following a search, the body of the missing individual was located earlier on Sunday.
Their identity has not been released.
Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
