Florida vs Auburn Prediction: Which Rebuild Takes the Next Step?
· Yahoo Sports
Florida (2-0) and Auburn (2-0) are both in rebuild mode with new coaches, new styles, and a new energy. So far, things couldn’t be going better for both teams.
The Tigers held on to beat Baylor to start the season and rolled past Southern Miss. The Gators annihilated Florida Atlantic and Campbell by a combined score of 117-24.
Now they each get their first major test – yeah, even bigger than Baylor was for the Tigers – before diving deep into nasty SEC schedules.

Why Florida Will Win
The Gators haven’t been pushed at all – Florida Atlantic is better than the 66-21 loss suggests, though – but they’ve also been explosive on offense, attacking on defense, and everything is moving faster.
Quarterback Aaron Philo has been sharp, hitting 76% of his passes with five scores and a pick, pushing the downfield passing game. It helps to have Jadan Baugh, who leads the SEC with close to 300 yards and is averaging 10.6 yards per carry.
Why Auburn Will Win
The Auburn defense that was so good last year continues to be fantastic. It stuffed the Baylor running game, didn’t let the Southern Miss ground attack do anything, and now it should swarm all over Baugh.
The high-octane Alex Golesh offense didn’t get going against the Bears, but last week it showed what’s coming for the SEC, with the running game ripping off play after play with a wonderful tempo – the ground game has carried the ball 92 times in two games.
Florida vs Auburn Prediction, Betting Lines
Florida head coach Jon Sumrall and Auburn’s Golesh squared off two years ago when they were each coaching in the American Conference. Sumrall’s Tulane team beat Golesh’s USF team 45-10. Sumrall has seen this offense before, and his Gators should be able to handle the Auburn offense in a tough, lower-scoring fight than most will be expecting.
