Notre Dame football’s defense was once again a very bright area for the team on Sunday against Wisconsin, allowing just 13-points and 284-yards, many coming with the game already in-hand.

On Monday, Pro Football Focus released its game grades for the Irish, and a transfer stood atop of the list in defensive tackle Francis Brewu. While he didn’t win the starting job out of camp, that went to Armel Mukam, his impact was massive.
Playing in 28 snaps, he recorded 3 tackles, a sack, and three quarterback hurries, earning a 90.5 grade from PFF as shared by BlueandGold.com. After spending his first two seasons of college with Pittsburgh, the 6-foot, 1-inch and 285-pounder transferred during the offseason. He was viewed as a massive win in the portal for Notre Dame, and showed why he was so coveted during his first appearance in the Blue and Gold.
While Mukam didn’t play poorly, Brewu outplayed him and could be the starter going forward. Regardless of who is out there during the first snap, the Irish have great depth at the position, which is a problem for any offense.
