The Kansas City Chiefs could be moving toward a surprise L’Jarius Sneed reunion two years after trading their former starting cornerback to Tennessee.
This is not just nostalgia. The Kansas City Chiefs need cornerback stability, and L’Jarius Sneed needs a place where his best NFL years still carry trust.

The harder question is whether the Chiefs are evaluating the title-winning version they knew, or the injury-hit player the Tennessee Titans just released.
L’Jarius Sneed Chiefs reunion begins with a familiar visit
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Sneed is visiting Kansas City, giving the Chiefs a direct look at a defender who already understands their standards.

Photo by Ian Maule/Getty ImagesSneed was a fourth-round pick in 2020 and became one of Steve Spagnuolo’s most trusted defensive backs. From 2020 to 2023, he recorded 303 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 10 interceptions, and 40 passes defended with Kansas City.
The Chiefs placed the franchise tag on him in 2024, then traded him to Tennessee in March. The Titans gave him a major contract (four–year, $76.40 million contract that includes $51.50 million guaranteed), but the bet collapsed quickly.
Sneed played only 12 games across two Titans seasons, did not record an interception, and landed on injured reserve in October 2025. Tennessee waived him in March 2026 while clearing cap space and remaking its secondary.
L’Jarius Sneed gives Chiefs upside and risk
As of June 4, 2026, the Chiefs’ official depth chart lists Nohl Williams and Kristian Fulton as the top cornerbacks, with Kevin Knowles and Melvin Smith Jr. behind them.
That makes Sneed a sensible target if the price stays low. He knows the system, brings championship experience, and would give Kansas City a veteran answer while younger corners develop.
The warning is his availability. Sneed has not completed a full season since leaving Kansas City, so the Chiefs cannot treat him like a guaranteed CB1.
No stronger current report surfaced of another Sneed visit, though the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, LA Chargers, and the New York Giants have been floated as possible fits. If Kansas City looks elsewhere, Rasul Douglas, Asante Samuel Jr., and Chidobe Awuzie are veteran names to monitor.
Sneed still makes the most emotional sense with the Chiefs. The football fit depends on his medicals, contract demands, and whether Kansas City believes their old version of him is still there.
