It was a long 27-year wait for the Knicks to get back to the finals, especially for Knicks' assistant coach/Jalen Brunson's father, Rick Brunson.
Rick Brunson was a part of the Knicks roster in 1999 that went to the NBA Finals, and now his son will be a part of the roster that returns to the big stage in 2026.

It's important to note that the roles each Brunson had with the Knicks are very different, as Jalen is the team's cornerstone player, while Rick was more of a role player.
It's still NBA history nontheless, and we'll get to see the two do it together, as Rick will coach his son on the sidelines nearly three decades after he played on the same stage.
