The Pittsburgh Steelers inked edge rusher Nick Herbig to a four-year, $100 million contract extension on Tuesday, and they have wasted no time working toward another deal done with another former Wisconsin Badger.

Per Alan Saunders of Steelers Now, Pittsburgh and defensive tackle Keeanu Benton are beginning to work out a new deal.

“The Steelers are working toward a new deal with DT Keeanu Benton, per source,” Saunders posted on X. “Nothing necessarily imminent, but it’s in the works. His agent, Joe DiBenedetto, who he shares with Nick Herbig, was at the team’s facility today.”

Like Herbig, Benton was part of the Steelers’ 2023 draft class, taken in the second round. He is coming off a career-high 5.5 sacks and 51 tackles in 2025, six of which were tackles for loss.

On top of Benton, the Steelers still need to work out contract extensions with tight end Darnell Washington and star cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Both are coming off career-best seasons, with Porter allowing just 32 receptions while targeted and zero touchdowns, per Next Gen Stats. Additionally, Porter also allowed a catch rate over expected of -11 percent. Washington posted career-highs in catches (31), and yards (364).
