Keselowski, a minority owner in RFK who played a major role in the organization's competitive direction, confirmed that he has 20% equity in the team and can begin the process of selling that equity as he exits the organization.

RFK Racing released a statement before Keselowski's media availability, noting that he will no longer be involved in management with the team.

"RFK Racing and Brad Keselowski have come to a mutual agreement that will allow Brad to continue his driving career with another organization," the team said in a statement. "Brad will be a passive investor of RFK Racing, thus concluding his role in governance, competition oversight and board participation."

The 2012 Cup Series champion confirmed that the RFK split occurred after discussions began after last season as to his next step following the completion of his driving contract following the 2026 season. Keselowski had a strong preference to continue driving; His fellow RFK partners wanted Keselowski to focus on an off-track role.

This agreement, negotiated as recently as the morning of Oct. 31, allows Keselowski to seriously pursue other driving opportunities in the Cup Series. Keselowski noted that there are "a number of opportunities" in the Cup Series for next year, but he is not yet close to signing with a team given the recent finalization of his exit from RFK.

"Not being able to race would be devastating to me," Keselowski said.

Keselowski also said that the agreement with RFK also allows him to pursue driving and possible ownership in the Truck Series. The future Hall of Famer mentioned winning the triple crown as a goal after winning the 2010 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship and the 2012 Cup title earlier in his career.

Keselowski owned Brad Keselowski Racing in the Truck Series for more than a decade before closing in 2017.
