Why Aaron Rodgers wants Jaylen Warren as Steelers' clear RB1

Following a dominant 34-22 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, a clear philosophical divide has emerged within the Pittsburgh Steelers' building regarding the offensive focal point. While veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers openly calls for running back Jaylen Warren to receive a heavier workload, head coach Mike McCarthy seems reluctant to officially hand him the backfield reins.

Warren turned in a historic performance against Indianapolis, becoming the first player since Herschel Walker to record an 80-yard touchdown reception and a 50-yard run in the same game. On the podcast “Snap Count,” co-host Trai Essex emphasized how Rodgers made his preference clear following the win.
"And when your quarterback says at the end of the game, your 42-year-old multi-MVP future Hall of Fame quarterback says at the end of his press conference, 'The only thing we need to do is get 30 to ball more.' You probably need to listen to him because he knows what he's talking about," Essex urged.
Despite Warren's explosive production, McCarthy's postgame remarks indicated a desire to immediately work Rico Dowdle back into the rotation once Dowdle returns from injury. Co-host Charlie Batch expressed frustration with McCarthy's unwillingness to cement Warren as the undisputed starter.
"The one thing that I would have liked to see Coach McCarthy say after his postgame press conference was the fact of, ‘no, Jaylen is our guy and we'll work Rico D in when he gets healthy,’" Batch explained. "He didn't say that. He said, 'When Rico's back, we'll put him back in.' Come on, coach. This guy's earned the spot."
While Dowdle offers value, Warren's historical efficiency and chemistry with the offensive line prove he should remain the focal point. Moving forward, McCarthy must balance his backfield hierarchy with the demands of his future Hall of Fame quarterback.
