What Happened to DJ Moore? Latest Update on Bills WR’s Injury and Why He’s Not Playing in Week 5 vs. Rams
· Yahoo Sports
The Buffalo Bills will be without wide receiver DJ Moore for Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium. He was listed as questionable heading into the weekend after managing just one limited practice session during Week 5 preparation, and the Bills officially listed him as inactive roughly 90 minutes before the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.
Moore’s absence is a significant blow for a 3-1 Bills team looking to bounce back from a surprising 29-26 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 4, the same game in which the star wideout went down with the shoulder injury that kept him out tonight.

Details on DJ Moore’s Injury
Moore has been dealing with an AC joint injury in his left shoulder since Week 2, when he dove for a pass from Josh Allen in the end zone against the Detroit Lions and landed hard, with Lions cornerback Rock Ya-Sin falling on top of him.
He was ruled out for the remainder of that game but returned for Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers, catching six passes for 67 yards while playing through the injury.
The problem resurfaced in Week 4 against New England, as Moore left late in the second quarter after aggravating the shoulder, was downgraded from questionable to doubtful, and ultimately did not return. The Bills wide receiver didn’t practice Thursday or Friday and was limited only during Saturday’s session before being listed as questionable.
For The Latest Information:NFL Injury Report
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reported: “Bills WR DJ Moore is inactive tonight vs. Rams after aggravating AC sprain in his left shoulder. Hope is more rest will help him with shoulder throughout the season.”
Through four games this season, Moore has 12 receptions for 178 yards and a touchdown on 20 targets, with his best performance coming in the Week 1 win over Houston when he posted five catches for 100 yards and a score. He is ranked 31st on PFN’s WR Impact Rankings with a grade of 75.9.
The recurring shoulder issue has limited his ability to build chemistry with Allen in Joe Brady’s offense, and the Bills will hope the extra rest between now and Week 6 allows Moore to get fully healthy rather than continuing to aggravate the injury week after week.

How the Bills Acquired Moore and Who Steps Up in His Absence
Buffalo acquired Moore from the Chicago Bears during the offseason in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick, adding a proven No. 1 target for Allen after the franchise’s push toward a Super Bowl run.
The Bears also sent a 2026 fifth-round pick to Buffalo and saved roughly $16.5 million in cap space. Moore came to the Bills after a down year in Chicago, where he caught just 50 passes for 682 yards and six touchdowns in 2025, but the expectation was that a fresh start alongside Allen would reignite his production.
With Moore and Joshua Palmer both inactive tonight, the Bills will lean on Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Greg Dortch, Skyler Bell, and Trent Sherfield at wide receiver.
Coleman has quietly emerged as a reliable target for Allen, posting 217 receiving yards through four games, and could see an expanded role against a Rams defense that ranks fourth on PFN’s Defense Impact Metric.
It will be interesting to see whether Moore can return to full health before Buffalo’s schedule intensifies over the next few weeks. The Bills have enough offensive firepower to survive one game without him, but if the shoulder continues to flare up, it could undermine the very reason they traded for him in the first place.
