Chelsea have received a significant fitness boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League encounter with Bournemouth, with midfielder Moises Caicedo available for selection after recovering from a calf injury.
Head coach Xabi Alonso confirmed that the Ecuador international has returned to full training and is ready to feature following a frustrating start to the campaign.

Caicedo has managed just 14 minutes of competitive football this season after initially suffering a calf problem during pre-season.
The 24-year-old aggravated the injury during a substitute appearance against Brighton & Hove Albion on August 30, forcing Chelsea to manage his recovery carefully.
However, Alonso revealed that the international break had provided sufficient time for the midfielder to regain his fitness.
“Yes, he’s ready to go. We have used the time with Moises to get him back fit,” Alonso told reporters.
The Chelsea manager acknowledged that Caicedo’s absence had affected the team, particularly given his defensive qualities and influence in midfield.
Alonso also admitted that introducing the midfielder against Brighton had been a mistake, explaining that the club subsequently avoided another unnecessary risk.
Caicedo was therefore left out against Brentford before the international break, allowing him additional recovery time.
His return comes at an important moment for Chelsea, who have failed to win their last three Premier League matches.
The Blues sit 10th in the standings and have conceded 12 league goals, the highest total in the division.
Caicedo’s ability to regain possession, protect the defence and control midfield transitions could help address some of those problems.
Chelsea have also received encouraging news concerning several other first-team players ahead of Bournemouth’s visit to Stamford Bridge.
Cole Palmer has recovered from a minor muscular problem, while Reece James and Joao Pedro are available following hamstring and knee issues respectively.
Summer signing Marco Palestra could also make his competitive debut after overcoming a quadriceps injury.
Alonso hopes the returning players can remain available throughout a demanding period featuring five league fixtures before the next international break.
However, Chelsea will be without Jamie Gittens after the winger sustained an ankle injury while representing England Under-21s against Kazakhstan.
The former Borussia Dortmund attacker is expected to spend several weeks on the sidelines.
Despite that setback, Caicedo’s recovery provides Alonso with an important option as Chelsea seek to improve their results.
The Ecuadorian’s return could prove particularly valuable against Bournemouth as the Blues attempt to restore defensive stability and climb the Premier League table.
