After injuries to Tyquan Thornton and Rahsee Rice, the Kansas City Chiefs suddenly find themselves in need of help at the wide receiver position. The good news is that it sounds like they have someone in mind, and Travis Kelce would approve.

Even before the injuries to Thornton and Rice, the Chiefs were reportedly “very interested” in a reunion with former Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill. While Kelce admits that the decision to bring Hill back would be “out of his hands,” it’s pretty clear that he would welcome him.

Chiefs, Cheetah Reunion?

Hill became a free agent in February when the Miami Dolphins released him following his devastating knee injury he sustained in October of last year. As he plans his comeback to the NFL, Michael Silver of The Athletic reports that the Chiefs would be “very interested” in a reunion with the superstar receiver.

“Several high-ranking organizational sources confirmed Sunday night that they are very interested in signing free agent receiver Tyreek Hill, who starred in Kansas City from 2016 to ’21,” Silver wrote for The Athletic this week. “Hill suffered a gruesome knee injury almost exactly a year ago while playing for the Miami Dolphins and was released in February. He’s attempting to recover from a knee dislocation and multiple torn ligaments, including an ACL, and is believed to be targeting a November return.”

Hill himself seemed to address this speculation as he wrote simply “hm” in a post on X.

‘Out of my hands’

Following Sunday’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Kelce addressed the possibility of Hill returning to Kansas City as he made it clear to the Chiefs that he would welcome a reunion with his former teammate.

“That’s out of my hands, but I know I’d love to have ‘The Cheetah’ back in this building,” Kelce said via The Athletic. “He’s a brother. He’s one of those people who, when he sets his mind to something, he usually delivers. You saw that with Miami, when all the haters were saying he couldn’t play and he went and had his best year. I’d be excited by what he could do (here).”

It would seem to make sense for both parties. We’ll have to see whether or not it ultimately happens.
