Lauderdale County youth sports league president charged with stealing from it

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A Lauderdale County man has been charged with stealing from a youth sports league that he is listed as the president of.

According to court documents, Justin Mansell was charged with first-degree theft of property for stealing money from the Lexington Dixie Youth Softball League.

A criminal complaint filed against Mansell said that he "knowingly obtained or exerted unauthorized control of Lexington Dixie Youth Softball Funds and deprived them permanently of those funds."

The complaint said the funds in question exceed $2,500. The deposition filed in the case says the funds were used for personal use.

Court records show that Mansell was arrested on the charges on Sept. 28.

According to the youth softball league's Facebook group, Mansell was named president of the league's board in July 2025.
