Hawaii sweeps Grand Canyon in first true road match of season

Panna Ratkai put down a match-high 14 kills with 11 digs and the Hawaii women’s volleyball team won its first true road match of the season with a 25-23, 25-23, 25-20 sweep of Grand Canyon today at Global Credit Union in Phoenix, Ariz.

Miliana Sylvester hit .529 with 11 kills and Victoria Leyva led four Rainbow Wahine in double figures with 18 digs to help Hawaii improve to 11-3 overall and stay undefeated in Mountain West Conference play at 3-0.

Tali Hakas added 15 digs and Cameron Holcomb had a career-high 11 digs and an ace for UH, which has won 26 of its last 30 sets played.

Setter Adrianna Arquette had 30 assists, seven digs, two kills and a season-high three aces.

Hawaii hit just .165 for the match but held the Lopes (7-7, 1-2), who lead the conference in hitting percentage, to a .179 clip.

Starr Williams had 13 kills to lead Grand Canyon, which had never played Hawaii before until tonight.

The two teams will rematch on Saturday at 3 p.m.
