After a great start to the season, Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are in a bit of a slump, as they lost to the Baylor Bears 23-13. This comes right after an embarrassing 41-7 loss to Northwestern last week, and the team’s high-profile head coach is under fire once again.

In the aftermath of the Buffs’ loss against Baylor, analyst Jason Whitlock took to social media and likened the outcome to Colorado having its gold chain grabbed by the Bears and running with it.

“Colorado got its chain snatched,” he said. “That offensive coordinator, that Go-Go offense, Brennan Marion, that’s going around with his big gold chain, he had to tuck his chain away in the second half coz Baylor snatched that chain. It’s a wrap!”

Jason Whitlock and Deion Sanders have been feuding for several years now, with the two trading barbs with one another on social media. Whitlock has claimed that they even had a face-to-face confrontation, with the Colorado head coach allegedly barging into his Fox Sports locker room and confronting him, telling the analyst to stop criticizing him on TV.

That has not stopped Whitlock from criticizing Sanders, though, as he has continued slamming the coach and the Colorado Buffaloes on air and on social media, as seen in the aftermath of the Buffs’ loss to Baylor.

After that loss, Colorado has fallen to a 2-2 record, with many already questioning if Sanders would be keeping his job for long.

During that loss to Baylor, Deion Sanders surprised many when he decided to bench Julian Lewis, his starting quarterback. He substituted him with Isaac Wilson, who also did not fare as well. After the game, the former Super Bowl champion explained his decision.

“It was a decision I made because I was trying to get us going. That’s it, just based on the fact that we’ve got to get going and we’ve got to score some points,” Sanders explained. “Isaac Wilson came in a little shaky. And he calmed down a little bit and got us down the field. He did his job, and that’s all we wanted.”

The Buffaloes were largely inconsistent throughout the game, with the offense struggling. However, there were a few bright spots, such as wide receiver Joseph Williams, who played well despite his teammates struggling. He received some praise from his Hall of Famer coach after the game.
