‘Bakaiti’ season 2 review: New problems and volume control

The Hindi show about idle chatter that leaves serious injuries has returned. In Bakaiti season 2 on Zee5, the cash-strapped Kataria family from Ghaziabad faces fresh obstacles while continuing to address lingering challenges.

The lawyer Sanjay (Rajesh Tailang) is forced to accept a dodgy new client (Abhijeet Chavan) to pay the bills. Although his wife Sushma’s tailoring business has taken off, Sushma (Sheeba Chaddha) is sometimes wracked by guilt over whether she is neglecting her family.
Their daughter Naina (Tanya Sharma) is studying in Mumbai. Back in Ghaziabad, her brother Bharat (Aaditya Shukla) is still waiting for his spot in a cricket team.
Sanjay’s brother Ajay (Parvinder Jit Singh) and his wife Alka (Poonam Jangra) turn up for a prolonged stay that supplies much of the conflict in the new chapter. Naina’s classmate from Mumbai, Kevin (Rtwik Nambiar), turns up too. The forced get-together is predictably tense.
Written by Abhinav Vaidya, Gunjan Saxena and Neha Pawar and directed by Samar Iqbal, the second season is not as shrill and miserable as its predecessor. The tone is softer this time, acknowledging the love that exists between the Katarias despite the arguments.
