In this latest edition of the series, let's take a look at forward Jeffrey Viel.
Jeffrey Viel Looking To Make An Impact After Landing Long-Term Deal
The Lightning signed Viel to a five-year contract with an average annual value of $2.5 million in free agency this off-season. The longtime AHL forward earned this contract after breaking out with the Anaheim Ducks last season. Now, he will be looking to make an impact with his toughness as a member of the Lightning.
Viel showed last season after being traded by the Boston Bruins to the Ducks that he can provide some offense with his grit. In 35 games with Anaheim following the trade, he posted three goals and 10 points. He also had two goals and four points in 12 playoff games for Anaheim.
If Viel can provide that same kind of secondary offensive production while in a bottom-six role, he could end up being a valuable pickup for the Bolts. It will be interesting to see if he can do just that.
