USC football hot take of the week heading into Game 2 vs Fresno State
· Yahoo Sports
The USCTrojans last week kicked off the season with a very simple game plan. There was a big emphasis on getting the young guys involved. Within that game plan, Jayden Maiava lit it up and delivered. Jayden Maiava was 25-for-29 and had 286 yards through the air and 3 total touchdowns.

Here is my hot take of the week heading into Game 2:
Maiava showed he can weather the storm, and he can have success even with a less experienced offense. The biggest thing that stood out is that he can lead a young offense to success, but also have great success individually.
Jayden Maiava will be a Heisman finalist this season. It is a guarantee he is going to put up numbers. Game 1 showed that, even though he has younger targets, they are still each special talents. Tanook Hines is now back healthy as well, so that only makes things easier for Maiava.
In the stretch of non-conference games, Maiava is going to deliver Heisman-worthy performances. In the bulk of the schedule after Week 4, for the Trojans to win the big games, Maiava is going to have to play like a Heisman. So far, he looks up to that challenge. He has the utmost confidence this season. I think he is going to have one of the best quarterback seasons in the country. That will lead to USC being in the College Football Playoff and Jayden Maiava finishing as a Heisman finalist.
