Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl addressed the situation concerning Jamal Musiala’s “neurological absences” and admitted that the club knew about the situation since last season. However, there was no prior communication of it because the club wanted to let Musiala be at ease with the timing of when and how to talk about it.

The two collapses on the pitch that Musiala experienced against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim, though, expedited the plan for Musiala to talk openly about his condition.

“We’ve known about it the entire last season. It was Jamal’s wish to communicate it. The players also knew about it. For us, it’s become part of everyday life. We, as the FC Bayern family, stand together, will give him all our support, have already done so, and will continue to do so. We’re doing this together. He changed something in his medication, which is why these situations became clear. Now we want to get back to how things were before, where these situations didn’t happen,” said Eberl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Some fans and pundits might be upset with the lack of information on the matter, but with personal health it was really a matter of if or when Musiala would be compelled to discuss it. After the incidents during this preseason, Musiala likely had to issue that Instagram post ahead of schedule.

The important thing is that all parties are aligned on how to move forward. The hope is that good solutions are put in place to help the Germany international manage it the best that he can.
