ESPN is returning to Sunday Night Baseball for the first time in 2026 for a one-off broadcast of the MLB Little League Classic between the Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers. In addition to its main broadcast, ESPN will also air the first-ever Alumni-cast on ESPN2.

ESPN and MLB mutually opted out of their Sunday Night Baseball agreement in February 2025. In November 2025, ESPN announced a new agreement that saw it end its long run as the home of Sunday Night Baseball, instead moving to mostly midweek games, with a few weekend afternoon telecasts on ABC. NBC replaced ESPN as the home of Sunday Night Baseball.

However, for one week only, Sunday Night Baseball will be back on ESPN. ESPN’s coverage of the MLB Little League Classic, which it has aired since the game’s inception in 2017, will serve as a tie-in to the network’s coverage of the Little League World Series.

The main broadcast will featurerecently laid-off Karl Ravech on play-by-play alongside Eduardo Pérez and field reporter Buster Olney. For the few remaining supporters of the end of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball run, this might provide some nice nostalgia. Ravech, Pérez, and Olney, alongside David Cone, served as the Sunday Night Baseball commentating team from 2022 to 2025.

For those with less pleasant memories of the closing years of Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN, the network will also provide an alt-cast on ESPN2. For many years, ESPN aired an alternate “kids cast” featuring kids on the call. This year, ESPN is going in another direction, with adult commentators who have participated in the Little League World Series. Mike Monaco will be on the call, alongside Little League veterans Todd Frazier and Devon Travis.

The broadcast will also feature a number of guests, including former Major League players Jason Marquis and ESPN hockey analyst and former NHL player Ray Ferraro, along with former MLB All-Star and current free agent Andrew McCutchen.

“It’s a chance to relive those [Little League] memories, share the stories behind the game, and celebrate the lasting connection that Little League creates across generations,” coordinating producer for ESPN Scott Gustafson told Variety. “No matter how far these players have gone in baseball, they all share the same starting point — Little League.”

This is new territory for ESPN in terms of an alt-cast. However, with a matchup between two of the National League’s top teams in the Brewers and Braves, people will certainly have a reason to tune in.
