The swap deal between Everton and Crystal Palace has been completed, with Brennan Johnson heading to Merseyside and Dwight McNeil moving in the opposite direction.

Johnson has joined Everton on a four-year contract running until June 2030, becoming David Moyes’ fifth summer signing. The 25-year-old Wales international arrives after a difficult spell at Palace, where he failed to score in 26 appearances following his £35m move from Tottenham in January.

Despite that disappointment, Johnson boasts plenty of pedigree. He made his name at Nottingham Forest before joining Spurs for more than £45m and scored the winning goal in the 2025 Europa League final against Manchester United.

McNeil, meanwhile, has signed a four-year deal with Palace. The 26-year-old winger leaves Everton after three seasons, having registered 15 goals and 19 assists in 128 appearances for the Toffees.

The move represents a second chance at Palace for McNeil, who came close to joining the Eagles in February. A proposed loan-to-buy deal worth £20m collapsed after the paperwork was not completed in time, despite the player having already passed his medical.
