Nebraska ranked highly in the preseason volleyball poll

The AVCA-Taraflex Division I WVB Preseason Poll was released Monday, revealing the top 25 teams heading into the season. Nebraska secured the top spot.

The Huskers stand at No. 1 by an overwhelming margin, receiving 141 more adjusted points than Texas, which sits at No. 2. Nebraska also earned 57 first-place points, with Kentucky receiving the second-most, at just four. The Huskers finished last season 33-1, falling to Texas A&M in the Regional Finals and enter year three of the Dani Busboom Kelly era.

Of the top 25, 12 are opponents on Nebraska’s schedule and seven are in the Big Ten. The non-conference slate includes No. 17 Florida, the Huskers’ first match of the season, aforementioned Texas, who Nebraska faces in Las Vegas, and No. 21 Baylor, who the Huskers host for their second home match of the season. Other key non-conference clashes include No. 19 North Carolina and No. 13 Creighton. Both matches are in Lincoln.

Alongside Nebraska in the Big Ten, other teams to make the list include Wisconsin (No. 6), Purdue (No. 9), Penn State (No. 10), Minnesota (No. 14), Indiana (No. 16), USC (No. 20) and Oregon (No. 25). The Huskers host Wisconsin, Purdue, Minnesota and USC.
