Steelers cut ties with rookie defender at training camp

· Yahoo Sports

As the Pittsburgh Steelers are hitting their stride in training camp, the team has released one rookie defender to make room for a key signing with ties to head coach Mike McCarthy.

On Thursday, the Steelers announced the release of undrafted cornerback Ahmari Harvey to make room for the signing of former Dallas Cowboys defensive back Israel Mukuamu.

Playing for Auburn (2021) and Georgia Tech (2022-2025), Harvey recorded four interceptions, 12 passes defended, and 121 combined tackles in his collegiate career.

Harvey signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft but was waived by the team on June 18. The Steelers signed Harvey one week later on June 25.

We at Steelers Wire wish Harvey the very best as he looks for his next NFL opportunity, which could arrive quickly for the young cornerback with preseason here.
