It comes after the Mets mounted a ninth-inning rally on Wednesday night as Jorge Polanco knocked a two-out double, Marcus Semien walked and A.Jm Ewing put the pressure on with a chopper toward the right side. An error allowed the tying run to score and Bo Bichette put them ahead on an RBI single.
The Mets will look to cap the sweep at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at Progressive Field. They have not swept a series since May 29-31 against the Marlins.
The Mets have scored six runs in back-to-back games. Carson Benge has homered in two straight games.
NY Mets, Guardians probable starting pitchers for Thursday
Nolan McLean will look to continue his run of six straight quality starts when he makes his 23rd start of the season.
Last time out against the Marlins, McLean allowed two earned runs across 6⅓ innings on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts. He enters with a 7-7 record, 3.29 ERA and 1.12 WHIP.
Foster Griffin will be making his Guardians debut after being acquired from the Nationals at the trade deadline. The right-hander is 12-3 with a 3.06 ERA and 1.07 WHIP this season.
