Amad’s season
The Ivorian Amad had a strong season in 2024/2025, during which he broke out as a wing-back in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.
Nonetheless, he experienced a more irregular season the previous year, scoring just two goals throughout the campaign.
He found himself in and out of the team as Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo were often preferred on the wings in Michael Carrick’s return to a 4-2-3-1 formation.
World Cup
Amad has been in impressive form for the Ivory Coast both before and during the World Cup.
He produced a series of strong performances in the Africa Cup of Nations and also scored in a friendly win over France last month.
Amad also scored the winning goal in the World Cup against Ecuador, and his shot created the Ivorians’ goal against the Germans.
He was left on the bench for the Ivory Coast’s last 32 tie with Norway but came on for the final 30 minutes with his side 1-0 down.
The 23-year-old picked the ball up out wide, played a quick one-two, glided into the penalty area, and finished with aplomb to pull his side level.
It was a truly wondrous goal and reflected just how much talent the winger has when he is on his A-game.
He had two shots on target, one of which was a free-kick.
Amad also completed 100% of his dribbles and made one key pass in the game, which resulted in a big chance being created for his nation.
The young winger also won 100% of his duels and completed a solid 89% of his passes.
