Patriots insider names four tight ends as possible free agent options

The New England Patriots could be in the market for an additional tight end, and ESPN’s Mike Reiss pointed out four players who would make sense for the team to consider.
Hunter Henry is the No. 1 tight end for New England, and they hoped that Julian Hill would serve as the No. 2 option for the team. Hill is more of a traditional tight end with a strong blocking background. However, he suffered a season-ending knee injury during practice and was placed on injured reserve.

Reiss expects the team to consider a Y-type tight end option, which then led to the mentioning of Will Dissly, Pharaoh Brown, Nick Vannett and John FitzPatrick as potential options.
Reiss wrote:
"Ideally it would be with a Y-type option who can move bodies on the line of scrimmage, with Will Dissly, Pharaoh Brown and Nick Vannett among the more established veterans currently available in free agency, and former Packer John FitzPatrick (fifth season) a younger option who is recovering from an Achilles injury sustained in December."
Out of all the names listed above, Brown could be the most interesting.
He has experience with the Patriots, dating back to 2023. He played in 17 games that year and recorded 13 catches for 200 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown came against the New York Jets, as he caught a 58-yard pass from former Patriots quarterback Mac Jones for the score.
There is hope that rookie third-round draft pick Eli Raridon can develop into a reliable option right out of the gate. The former Notre Dame standout has shown a lot of promise, and he could be a future No. 1 option in the Patriots' offense.
But it isn't fair to expect him to pick up everything in his first NFL season. That's where having another veteran option outside of Henry would be beneficial.
