GM Chris Ballard said earlier this offseason that Pierce dealt with the injury for "a lot" of the 2025 season and as the pain lingered into the offseason, he and the team decided to get surgery.
"I should be back, I think, like right before the season or ready to go sometime during camp," Pierce said on Wednesday via The Athletic's James Boyd.
Prior to the surgery, Pierce told ESPN that he tried other courses of treatment, but they didn't fix the problem.
Pierce has led the NFL in yards per catch the last two seasons, but he has become a very well-rounded wideout, able to attack different levels of the field while doing so in a variety of ways.
Last season, Pierce eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the first time in his career, along with hauling in six touchdowns. Now, in 2026, Pierce is being paid like a WR1 and is looking to produce like one.
Pierce signed a four-year, $114 million deal with the Colts during free agency.
