The one-time Mississauga home of David Harland Sanders, best known as Col. Sanders, is on the market.
Visit afsport.lat for more information.
The founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, now KFC, moved to the Lakeview area of the city in 1965.
He and wife Claudia lived there part of the year so he could oversee his Canadian franchises, and he was often seen wearing his signature white suit as he made appearances on this side of the border, according to Visit Mississauga .
The modest side-split at 1337 Melton Drive, near Dixie Road and The Queensway, is listed for $1,499,999.
The listing from Meta Realty Inc. boasts the words many prospective homeowners want to hear: “Move-in ready and truly one of a kind.”
The house offers more than 2,000 square feet of finished living space with four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, two laundry areas, and multiple family rooms, making it “ideal for growing families, multi-generational living, or an in-law suite setup,” the listing notes.
What are the home’s highlights?
The house has changed since Sanders lived there.
An addition to the home, partially designed by Jane Lockhart, was completed in 2014.
The bright, open-concept kitchen at the heart of the residence is the real selling feature, as it connects to the main living area, den and dining room.
Another standout in the house is the private main-floor primary bedroom retreat, which boasts its own accessible ensuite bathroom with skylight and heated flooring.
Three other bedrooms and a full bathroom are on the top floor, while the lower level features a large recreation room, another full bathroom, a second laundry area, and an expansive utility room.
The outdoor space is also a winner, from the beautiful landscaped gardens, a private backyard patio, front and rear irrigation systems, and a powered garden shed.
Additional upgrades include heaters on soffits, central vacuum, a backup generator, electrical sliding back doors and two fireplaces, according to the listing.
An open house is scheduled for Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
