According to the Detroit Free Press,Detroit Tigers star pitcher Tarik Skubal could make a rehab start for the Toledo Mud Hens in Iowa on June 6.
The 29-year-old Skubal has been on the injured list since undergoing arthroscopic surgery in May. Skubal is widely considered one of the top pitchers in the game.
The June 1 report states that as long as Skubal feels healthy in the "24-48 hours" following Monday's simulated game, Skubal could, repeat, could start in Des Moines.
The southpaw is a two-time All-Star and two-time American League Cy Young Award winner. Skubal has pitched parts of seven seasons in the big leagues with the Tigers going 57-39.
He may not even be the biggest name to make a rehab start for the Mud Hens in Des Moines this week. Justin Verlander is scheduled to start for Toledo on Tuesday at Principal Park.
Verlander, like Skubal, has been one of the top hurlers in the league at times. Verlander is a nine-time All-Star, three-time AL Cy Young Award Winner and two-time World Series champion.
