Former UFC champion Conor McGregor is doing everything he can to make people want to see him compete once more.
"Notorious" ends his five-year hiatus from the Octagon when he takes on Max Holloway for a second time at UFC 329 this July 11. The bout headlines the card from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and marks the first time McGregor has fought on Paramount+.
"Thank you for all the love, support and encouragement over the last few days," McGregor posted on social media. "I am feeling very energized entering intense training camp because of it! I am very grateful for the team I have around me. My coaches and training partners, we are all fully tuned in for the challenge at hand.
"I am better than ever, and I relish the opportunity to once again show my mastery in martial arts to the world."
McGregor previously scored a victory over Holloway over a decade ago on his way to becoming a UFC champion. He lost his last bout vs. Dustin Poirier in 2021, suffering a serious leg injury in the process.
McGregor working with 'The Monkey King'
Part of that training camp includes working with Nicolo Solli. Nicknamed "The Monkey King," Solli is 6-3 in his career with one no-contest, competing at welterweight.
"(Solli) is in phenomenal condition," McGregor wrote, "pushing me hard, with coaches monitoring every exchange."
The 37-year-old McGregor has been in the main event of seven UFC numbered events that have generated at least one million pay-per-view buys, including a high of 2.4 million for his 2018 bout vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov.
