The Buccaneers claimed a 3-0 win at the Peter Mokaba Stadium to close the gap to Mamelodi Sundowns to just three points with a game in hand.

Masandawana edged out Siwelele 7-4 in a thrilling game at the Loftus Versfeld. A win for the Brazilians temporarily saw them extend their lead to six points and improve their goal difference but a victory for the Sea Robbers has set them backwards.

They play their last league match against TS Galaxy on Tuesday before turning their attention to the CAF Champions League on Friday.

How did Orlando Pirates see off Magesi?

Patrick Maswanganyi opened the scoring in the eighth minute. The 28-year-old attacker controlled the ball, eliminated two defenders before unleashing a shot past the Magesi keeper.

Seven minutes later, Kamogelo Sebeleble doubled the lead for the Buccaneers and firmly put them in control as they looked to add more goals against a helpless Dikwena tsa Meetse.

Oswin Appollis scored a third for Orlando Pirates in the 60th minute after Sebelebele was brought down.

A win now sees the Buccaneers just three points behind Sundowns with a game in hand. More importantly for them, they have a six-goal advantage over their fierce rivals.

If Downs lose their last match, then the Sea Robbers will only need just one win in their last two matches to claim their first league title in 14 years.
