The Boston Bruins got a big 6-1 home win over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, and Lukas Reichel made an impact in his debut.

Boston acquired Reichel at the trade deadline, and ahead of Thursday’s game, the Bruins recalled him. He made his Bruins debut and played on the third line with Elias Lindholm and Morgan Geekie.

In his debut, Reichel had a goal and an assist, and Bruins head coach Marco Sturm was happy with what he brought to the lineup.

“Definitely, they had a few good rushes, just because of (Reichel’s speed),” Sturm said, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “They had some good breakouts, just because of it.

“But offensively, he will, he drives it. And I think that was the goal, bringing this guy in today to drive Elias and Geeks. So he can push them a little bit more forward.”

Reichel, meanwhile, was just happy to chip in and help Boston get a big win amid its push to the playoffs. He was also ecstatic to play for the Bruins in Boston, as he felt like the crowd was special.

“It’s awesome,” Reichel said. “I think the crowd is always amazing. Even when I played here against the Bruins, it feels even better when you play for them.”

With the win, Boston improved to 38-23-8 and is holding onto the top Wild Card spot. Boston will return to the ice on Saturday on the road against the Detroit Red Wings.
