Troy Aikman Slams Low Turnout at UCLA Game Amid His Alma Mater’s Winning Streak: ‘Embarrassing’
· Yahoo Sports
Troy Aikman is calling out college football fans for not showing up to watch a game where his alma mater, the University of California, Los Angeles, played.
On Thursday, November 5, the sports commentator, 59, appeared on the Dallas radio show The Ticket and discussed the low turnout for the UCLA Bruins at their October 31 home game at the Rose Bowl.

“Little embarrassing that we were 7-0 going into last week’s game and, they shoot it pretty low (on TV) so you can’t really tell when you’re watching the game, I’m told there was about 20-25,000 people at the game,” Aikman said, per Awful Announcing. “So when you have a stadium at the Rose Bowl that holds over 100,000, 25,000, it may as well be empty as opposed to some other stadiums that maybe hold 40,000.”

UCLA defeated the University of Nevada Wolf Pack on Saturday, continuing their winning streak this season.
As First for Sports previously reported, Aikman has allegedly been feuding with his ESPN Monday Night Football broadcast partner Joe Buck, as he renewed his ESPN contract for six years and $108 million in September without telling the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback. Meanwhile, Aikman’s current contract will expire after Super Bowl LXI in February 2027, making him a free agent.
X/@MLFootballA source told First for Sports on October 19, “It’s the biggest betrayal anyone in the industry can remember,” adding that “There’s real hatred between them now.”
The two men — who have worked together for over 20 years — allegedly had a heated confrontation before an October 12 Monday Night Football game, The Athletic reported on October 30.
However, during an appearance on The Brian Kilmeade Show on Thursday, November 5, Terry Bradshaw, who is friends with both Aikman and Buck, 57, said, “My understanding right now is [that] things are OK.”
