Real Madrid will have an excellent opportunity to put more pressure on Barcelona at the top of the league table as they take on Valencia tomorrow.
With the top two in Barcelona facing Atletico Madrid in the same weekend, Real Madrid will have an opportunity to get into an advantageous position by the end of this gameweek.
However, scoring points away at Mestalla against Valencia is always a challenge for most teams across Europe, let alone only Spanish clubs.
Mourinho’s record at Mestalla
Mestalla, though, has been a stomping ground of sorts for Jose Mourinho throughout his career as manager.

Indeed, the Portuguese tactician has faced Valencia at the Mestalla on five occasions across his lifetime.
In those five matches, he has managed four victories while one ended in a draw. The sole draw came in the Copa Del Rey during his first stint at Real Madrid.
As for the four wins, three of them came during his first spell at the Bernabeu as well, while the other victory came during his time at Chelsea, in the UEFA Champions League.
A goalscoing fest in order?
What is particularly encouraging about Mourinho’s record at the Mestalla is the way his teams have historically dominated in the final third.

In those five matches, Mourinho’s teams have scored as many as 17 goals, thus accounting for more than three goals per game while conceding only seven.
This is quite a remarkable statistic, which could go in line with Real Madrid’s recent scoring form, as Los Blancos have netted at least three goals in a game in five of their last six matches in all competitions.
This is despite the fact that Real Madrid will be still missing out on the services of star forward Vinicius Jr., who continues to his serve his four-match suspension after a red card against Villarreal last month.
As for Valencia, they are having a horror season with just nine points in 11 matches and are languishing in relegation places. Therefore, it won’t be surprising to see Real Madrid once again scoring three goals under Mourinho at the Mestalla this weekend.
