Gophers goaltender Luca Di Pasquo made 41 saves through regulation and overtime as 18th-ranked Minnesota earned a point against No. 1 Wisconsin shootout loss on Thursday night at Mariucci Arena.

The game officially goes down as a 1-1 draw in the standings, handing the Badgers (6-0-1) their first non-regulation win of the season.

Minnesota’s Mason Moe put the hosts out in front with a power-play goal at 10:19 of the first. The lead held until Di Pasquo allowed his first and only non-shootout goal of the game to Wisconsin’s Zach Wooten to draw the top-ranked visitors even.

That’s how the score stayed through the third period and overtime, with neither Di Pasquo nor Badgers netminder Alexis Cournoyer allowing another score. Cournoyer wasn’t nearly as busy, as the Gophers offered up just 17 shots.

Di Pasquo allowed Wisconsin’s Bruno Idzan a backhanded goal on the first attempt of the shootout period. That tally proved to be the decider as neither team could find the net again through three rounds, with Wisconsin claiming bragging rights in the end.

The game is logged as a tie in the official record, bringing Minnesota’s record on the season to 3-3-3. The two teams face off once again on the U of M campus at 7 p.m. Saturday.
