GARETH CLIFF’S US MIDTERM TWEET BACKFIRES

On the eve of the US midterm elections – which take place halfway through a presidential term – Gareth Cliff tweeted: “I can’t wait to see mainstream media talking heads, pollsters, newspaper editors and out-of-touch academics make excuses and spin if things don’t go the way they’ve so confidently said they would”

The CliffCentral founder continued: “The Blue Wave, Obama on campaign, Abdul, Hillary, Kara Swisher, Hasan Piker, the DSA – pretty much all the worst people in America. Let’s see what happens…”

Over the next day, a “Blue Wave” did occur, with Democrats taking control of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The opposition party gained ground in former Republican states like Texas, Kansas, South Carolina and Ohio, suggesting that many voters had now votd for the opposition.

Political commentators have stated that US voters used the midterms to express dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump’s leadership and policies.

‘I’M NOT NOSTRADAMUS’

With the results of the US midterm elections confirmed, Gareth Cliff’s tweet soon trended on X.

The former radio shock jock was trolled over his early predictions, including his mention of Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, who became the first Muslim to win a Senate seat (Michigan).

Responding to some of his critics, Gareth tweeted: “Hey, I’m not Nostradamus”.

Quoting Sizwe Dhlomo, he continued: “I like being right, but I don’t mind being wrong”.

He added in another tweet: “I know this is hard for some people to hear, but I’m fascinated and intrigued by politics, not made or broken by it.

“Of course we all want elections to affirm our point of view. But we can’t get into the heads of any, let alone every voter. I woke up just as happy today as I was yesterday. I wish exactly that for you”.
