The New York Jets dropped to 2-6 on Sunday with a 38-33 loss to the previously floundering Las Vegas Raiders, the latest stumble in a frustrating two seasons at the helm for Jets head coach Aaron Glenn.

After the Jets handed the Miami Dolphins their first win of the season in Week 7, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg, one of the most prominent Jets fans in sports media, let the head coach hear it for his poor game management. NBC’s Mike Tomlin was just as critical of the franchise’s shortcomings under Glenn’s stewardship.

New York followed up that performance by helping the Raiders snap a four-game losing streak, and sports-radio legend Mike Francesa, who said in October that “the Jets could screw up a one-car funeral,” didn’t mince words while discussing the job Glenn has done thus far.

Francesa waited until Glenn’s post-game presser to share his thoughts on the state of things, and he was even more upset to have done so.

“When they had to score, they couldn’t score, even against this hideous defense,” Francesa said on The Mike Francesa Podcast. “[Glenn] comes out, ‘Well, we’re disappointed,’ and then says, ‘We did some excellent things today.’

“What coach comes out after this kind of loss where his season has completely crumbled? They have lost back-to-back games to the Dolphins and the Raiders, and he’s like, well, we did a lot of good things today.”

Francesa then lamented Glenn’s self-assessment of his coaching and his team.

“Hey, we did this right. We did this right. You know, we actually, we actually knew how to do this today. Hey, we actually knew how to use our timeouts today. Give us a hand.

“And then he starts telling you about how well he used his timeouts and how well he made the decision to defer. I mean, give me a break!” Francesa said incredulously. “This stuff is elementary. It’s stuff that should never even be mentioned. It’s like we’re going through a remedial reading course in coaching! It is unbelievable what is going on, bringing up things.

“Hey, we did this right. We did this right. You know, we actually, we actually knew how to do this today. Hey, we actually knew how to use our timeouts today. Give us a hand. I feel we’re building stuff. You just lost again to a terrible team!”

As SNY’s Connor Rogers pointed out, and Francesa will be happy to remind you, the Jets have regressed under Glenn, and although New York’s organizational incompetence runs far deeper than Glenn (the franchise hasn’t had a winning record since 2015, and hasn’t been to the playoffs for the better part of two decades), it’s becoming glaringly obvious that the former Jets cornerback isn’t the person who is going to finally turn things around.

“When does this nonsense end?” Francesa wondered, echoing the thoughts of so many Jets fans.
