The team announced on Monday afternoon that Campbell is still resting at the local hospital he was taken to after his scary neck injury on Sunday.

The Lions did not provide specific details, but they did note that “preliminary indications are positive” for him.

“Jack Campbell continues to rest and recover at a local hospital,” the Lions said. “Preliminary indications are positive and out of respect for Jack and his family we will not share further information at this time.”

Campbell suffered his neck injury in the fourth quarter of the Week 8 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

The former first-round pick came down with the injury while trying to make a tackle on Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson.

After staying down on the field for several minutes, Campbell was loaded onto a stretcher and carted off the field before being taken to a local hospital.

What made the situation even scarier was the clear concern players had on their faces. Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson was brought to tears as he watched medical staff tend to his teammate.

Following the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell revealed that the linebacker was alert and breathing as he was transported to the hospital.

He urged everyone to send their thoughts and prayers to Campbell.

“He’s breathing, he’s alert when he left. I know nothing further. Thoughts and prayers are with Jack. I would ask that everyone does the same,” Campbell said, per Lions beat reporter Brad Galli.

The injury also led to an emotional postgame speech from the Lions head coach in the locker room after the 19-15 win over Minnesota.

Campbell’s update was the last concrete one before the update from the Lions on Monday.

All the team would offer on Sunday night was that Campbell was resting at the hospital.

“Jack Campbell is resting and will remain in a local hospital tonight, for continued evaluation and monitoring. The team will provide further updates as we have them,” the Lions said.

We continue sending our best to Campbell as he recovers in the hospital.
