Iowa State football has made a quarterback decision.
On Tuesday, head coach Jimmy Rogers announced that Jaylen Raynor will get the nod to start on Saturday against Oklahoma State (Oct. 31, 6 p.m. CT). The Cyclones played two quarterbacks, Raynor and backup Connor Moberly, in a 39-3 loss to Arizona last week.

"We're going to go with Jalen, and to be honest with you, I thought Jalen started out well," Rogers said. "He's an awesome leader; he's awesome on the sidelines. Obviously frustrated with getting pulled, because he wants to compete with his teammates.
"What was great for (Moberly) to get his opportunity, really was looking for a spark. We couldn't get anything going in the run game. ...I believe in Jalen, he started the season, and he's the best leader on this team as far as having the pulse of the team. And where we sit right now, he's the guy that I feel like can lead us in the right direction."
Raynor has started every game of the season with mixed results. He has led the Cyclones to a 3-4 record and is 93-for-158 for 1,107 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions on the year. He's also added 145 rushing yards and three scores on 55 carries.
Against Arizona, the Arkansas State transfer went 8-for-10 for 106 yards but no touchdowns – with one lost fumble and a sack – in the first half before being pulled in favor of redshirt sophomore Moberly, a Southeast Polk grad. Moberly was 7-of-17 for 63 yards and took three sacks.
