Coach Erik Spoelstra’s Miami squad welcomed Dusty May and Cooper Flag’s Dallas Mavericks to South Beach on a night when Giannis Antetokounmpo pulled off his first triple-double in a Heat uniform. Antetokounmpo also threw down a vicious dunk that came shortly before Heat legend Dwyane Wade shared a cautionary tale with the viewing audience.

The Heat wound up losing by a score of 113-109, but entertained their fans with talk of a Wade return. Wade shut down that talk quickly by saying that he recently tore his bicep on a dunk attempt.

“I am fully retired…I went up to dunk recently and I tore my bicep muscle. People stop asking me to come back and play basketball. Everyone know my journey, I shared my journey what I went through a couple years ago, and I kinda changed my lifestyle, changed my body. My wife as well, my family, we’re just trying to live a good life, and we’re trying to be good people while we do that. We’re just trying to stay out the way, live our lives, raise our kids and just, love each other as a family,” Wade added as his wife Gabrielle Union appeared to crack a faint smile.

The game included a heated confrontation between Heat forward Bobby Portis and Mavericks forward Daniel Gafford, showing the intensity that was on full display. Portis racked up 12 rebounds in support of Antetokounmpo, while Davion Mitchell added 21 points, but it wasn’t enough to win on a day when Bam Adebayo was held to eight points and the Heat fell to 0-4 on the season.
