The Magic got their first win of the season on Sunday, sending the defending-champion Knicks to 0-3, but they didn't escape unscathed.

Orlando saw guard Jalen Suggs exit with an apparent knee injury late in the game, requiring help to make his way off the court after writhing in pain under the basket.

The Magic are already dealing with a significant absence, as they learned star Paolo Banchero could miss a month with an ankle injury, so they can ill afford to lose Suggs for an extended period.

Here's what you need to know about Suggs' injury.

Jalen Suggs injury update

Suggs appeared to suffer a non-contact knee injury while driving to the basket against the Knicks on Sunday. Once he landed, he remained under the basket in pain before being helped off the court and back to the locker room.

Magic coach Sean Sweeney said he "briefly" talked to Suggs after the game and said the guard was in "good spirits," but he didn't have anything more to offer other than to say an evaluation is coming on Monday.

The Magic will likely hope the injury is a hyperextension rather than major ligament damage, but they will hold their breath on the defensive guard until they know the extent of it.

Suggs appeared in 57 games last season, averaging 13.8 points and 5.5 assists per game while playing a major defensive role in Orlando's backcourt.
