The Washington Commanders have struggled to finish games in recent weeks. Following their Week 6 loss, the NFC East made history by becoming the first division since the 1970 merger to go winless in consecutive weeks. Amid the division’s struggles, Stefon Diggsdelivered a defiant message.

With no team establishing clear dominance in the division, the NFC East remains wide open. Hence, the Commanders are not entirely out of the playoff picture despite their disappointing start to the season.

After their recent loss against the San Francisco 49ers, Diggs shared his thoughts on the division’s current situation and explained why he believes Washington still has an opportunity to turn things around.

“It’s still wide open,” Diggs said, via Marshall Kramsky of WUSA. “Where we are and where the league is, it’s kinda interesting. A weird spot right now. Nobody’s kinda made it clear — that team we just played is a helluva football team.

“That’s one of those guys that’s gonna be in the running. We played a decent game; we could’ve played a lot better. We were still in it, just like all these games we’ve been in the past couple of weeks. We’ve been in it; we just gotta find a way to pull ‘em out.”

Following Week 6, Washington now holds a 1-4-1 record. The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are both 2-4, while the New York Giants sit at 3-2-1.

The Commanders have proven they can compete against strong opponents, but their recent performances reveal a team that has struggled to deliver consistently in crucial moments.

Their two-point loss to Philadelphia, six-point loss against San Francisco, and overtime tie with New York demonstrate just how slim the margins have been in several of their matchups.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels also shared the need for his team to maintain consistency throughout all four quarters instead of depending on strong performances in just one half of a game.
