Chicago Bulls’ Caleb Wilson Gives Himself a Fair Grade in Preseason Debut Vs. Phoenix Suns
· Yahoo Sports
Caleb Wilson was among the Chicago Bulls‘ standout performers in their 124-117 win over the Phoenix Suns in Wednesday’s preseason opener. The No. 4 pick posted a team-high 15 points and three rebounds on 6-for-15 shooting from the field across 29 minutes.
Wilson had his moments, but he made it clear he isn’t satisfied with his performance. The Chicago Bulls forward said he still has more room for improvement, as he plans to go after this year’s NBA Rookie of the Year award.

“I always felt like I could guard, but the NBA is way more physical, a lot more communication, so I’ve been working on that,” he continued. “Probably (I’ll give myself) a B. I made mistakes, but that’s to be expected. Also knowing that most of the stuff I messed up on I can fix.”

The Chicago Bulls signed Norman Powell to a two-year, $45 million deal this summer, and the one-time All-Star is already establishing himself as one of the team’s important leaders. Just ask Caleb Wilson, who had nothing but praise for the 33-year-old swingman.
“He’s a vocal leader. He doesn’t really get in anybody’s face, but he holds everybody accountable and pushes everybody to be better,” Wilson said of Powell.
“He’s talked to me a lot about just his journey,” he added. “It’s impressive to me, I mean, coming from playing in a couple of G League games to winning a championship, and also just playing in the NBA and becoming an All-Star last year, he’s told me a lot of good things. A lot of tricks and tips, both mentally and physically.”
