The Athletic’s Nic Baumgardner released his latest mock draft, with two Irish player getting picked within the first five selections. He has cornerback Leonard Moore going No. 2 to the Tennessee Titans. It’s fairly rare for a player at that position to get picked that high, while Colorado’s Travis Hunter was taken No. 2 in 2025, he was viewed as a two-way player instead of a traditional corner. The last one was LSU’s Derek Stingley taken No. 3 in 2022.
Quarterback CJ Carr has seen his stock rise over the last few weeks, and Baumgardner has him going N0. 5 overall to the New York Jets. He is projected to be the first player picked at his position, with Oregon’s Dante Moore getting selected right after him. Typically quarterbacks get overdrafted due to teams needs, but the 2027 draft could see a change in that.
If Baumgardner is correct, it would be the highest pair of Notre Dame players taken since 1955 when Ralph Gugleilmi and Frank Varrichione went No. 4 and No. 6. In 1946, The Irish had picks No. 1, No. 4, and No. 5, which would be hard to top.
