Lions injury update: Detroit pair doesn't practice on Thursday

· Yahoo Sports

A pair of Detroit Lions didn't practice on Thursday ahead of Sunday's Week 5 date at the Arizona Cardinals.

Offensive guard Ben Bartch (foot) and cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (hamstring) were both held out on Thursday. The Lions did get good news elsewhere. Defensive tackle Tyleik Williams (foot) was a limited participant on Thursday after not practicing on Wednesday.

Lions EDGE DJ Wonnum (back) was also a limited participant.

Detroit started the 21-day practice windows on both safety Brian Branch (Achilles) and center Cade Mays (wrist) on Wednesday. Both Branch and Mays remained limited participants as they trend toward returns.

Lions defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard didn't rule out the idea of Branch playing on Sunday.

"If we were playing tonight, it would be realistic,” Sheppard said of Branch playing on Thursday. “Like, this dude—it’s like he hadn’t been out. I’m serious. It literally looks like he hasn’t been out. It’s unbelievable. So, it’s just a matter of I’m going to lean on (Director of Player Health) Brett Fisher, (Head Trainer) Mike Sundeen, and our medical staff here. They’ve always done a tremendous job, and whatever they tell me. If that’s 20 plays, if that’s 30, if it’s 50—I want it to be 60—but whatever they tell me, I’m going to lock that, and we’re going to roll."

First-round picks Jeremiyah Love and Walter Nolen are both listed as limited, though Love looked pretty good moving around practice on Thursday from the videos that made their way out from practice.
