Kyrie Irving is cleared to return to NBA action for the Dallas Mavericksmore than a year after suffering a torn ACL. The veteran guard has no restrictions ahead of the NBA China Games 2026,

Mavericks coach Dusty May has been encouraged by what he has seen from Irving in his first camp with the team. He recently dropped a major hint that he could make Irving’s long-awaited return possible on Friday against the Houston Rockets.

“Dusty May says Kyrie Irving will play in one of the two games in China. Has yet to be determined which,” Bobby Karalla of DLLS Sports tweeted.

Irving last played on March 3, 2025, before the knee injury ended his season. He missed the entire 2025-26 campaign as Dallas finished 24-52, but he has been practicing since training camp opened September 26.

The return would give Dallas its first chance to see Irving play alongside a revamped roster that includes reigning Rookie of the Year Cooper Flagg. Irving will also reunite with teammates such as P.J. Washington while building chemistry with players who have spent limited time sharing the floor with him.

Max Christie, who has spent less than two weeks playing with Irving, also praised the experience of sharing the floor with the veteran guard.

“It’s always fun to play with a Hall of Famer,” Christie said. “Obviously, watching him create, and then being his teammate as well, I’m the beneficiary of a lot of just his basketball.”

May has not revealed his rotation or minutes plans for the China Games. Still, Irving being cleared without restrictions puts the 34-year-old guard in position to potentially play his first NBA game since March last year, when Dallas faces Houston Friday morning in Macao.
