The New Orleans Pelicans visited the Oklahoma City Thunder at BOK Center on Tuesday in the preseason, and Zion Williamson did not waste time in treating the crowd to a rim-rattling play.
In their second possession, Williams received a pass from Herbert Jones at the top of the key. Seeing a huge gap in the Thunder’s defense, he drove hard to the lane and rose for a powerful slam.
Aday Mara made a business decision not to jump with Williamson—unless he wanted to have his first poster in the NBA.

It is always good to see the 26-year-old forward fully healthy, and his quick dunk against the Thunder strongly suggested that he is in tip-top shape.
Williamson had a strong campaign last season, playing 62 games—the second-most of his career. He averaged 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.0 steals.
The two-time All-Star is looking to lead the Pelicans back to the playoffs after a two-year absence. Williamson, Jones, Trey Murphy III, Saddiq Bey, Dejounte Murray, and Derik Queen are expected to carry the crew in their first season under coach Jamahl Mosley.
“These guys have all bought in. There’s a system they know how to hold each other accountable night in and night out because you have a responsibility. There are great players in this league, and you aren’t shutting them all down, so your ability to make it difficult for them night in and night out is a five-man job,” said Mosley.
As of this writing, the Pelicans are trailing the Thunder, 67-52, at halftime. Williamson has four points, four rebounds, and one assist in 11 minutes.
