Solapur Division Observes Swachh Bharat Diwas 2026 with Cleanliness, Awareness and Green Initiatives

The Solapur Division of Central Railway observed Swachh Bharat Diwas 2026 on 2nd October with a series of cleanliness, awareness, plantation and community participation activities across the division including Latur, Kalaburagi, Kurduvadi, Pandharpur, Wadi, Hotgi etc. Railway officers, supervisors, staff, their families, Safai Mitras and other stakeholders participated actively, reaffirming their collective commitment towards maintaining clean, hygienic and environment-friendly railway premises.

Swachhata Pledge

As part of the observance, the Swachhata Pledge was administered to Railway staff, their families and Safai Mitras at various locations of Solapur Division. At the DRM Office, the pledge was administered by Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) Solapur, who sensitised and encouraged Railway personnel to actively participate in cleanliness activities and contribute towards ensuring sustained cleanliness across the Division.

Swachh Prabhat Pheri

A Swachh Prabhat Pheri carrying the slogan “Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat” was organised from the DRM Office to Solapur Railway Station, passing via the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation of participants, including branch officers, railway officers, supervisors, staff and their family members. The Civil Defence and RPF teams also participated enthusiastically and raised cleanliness-related slogans during the rally, helping spread the message of cleanliness, civic responsibility and public participation.

“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”

As part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, a plantation programme was organised at Rail Van Vihar near Sambhaji  Talav, in collaboration with Bank of Baroda, Regional Branch, Solapur. Approximately 70 saplings of various varieties were planted. The initiative highlighted the importance of greenery, environmental sustainability and community participation as integral components of the Swachh Bharat vision.

Cleanliness Drive at Solapur Station

Further strengthening the cleanliness initiatives at Solapur Railway Station, the Commercial Department team led by Sr DCM, in association with NGO Jai Hind Food Bank, undertook a cleanliness drive around the Model Toilets near the newly developed circulating area of the station.

The initiative focused on maintaining clean and hygienic surroundings in passenger-use areas and reinforcing the importance of cleanliness through collaborative efforts involving the Railways and community organisations.

The Swachh Bharat Diwas activities across Solapur Division reflected the spirit of Jan Bhagidari (public participation) and reinforced the message that cleanliness is a continuous collective responsibility. The active involvement of Railway personnel, Safai Mitras, families, security and Civil Defence teams, partner organizations and NGOs underlined the Division's commitment to providing passengers with cleaner, greener and more hygienic railway premises.

The Solapur Division continues to encourage sustained cleanliness practices and active participation of all stakeholders towards realising the vision of “Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat.”
