Fairland 45, Portsmouth 33

In a Ohio Valley Conference contest that was held on Friday evening in Portsmouth, the Portsmouth Trojans’ football program dropped a 45-33 decision to the Fairland Dragons’ football program in an offensive onslaught where both teams combined for 925 yards of total offense.

Portsmouth quarterback Cameron Williams and Trojan wide receiver Mekhi Berry had huge offensive outings, with Williams accounting for 389 yards of total offense by himself. Williams completed 14 of his 31 passes for 243 yards and five touchdowns, and ran for 146 additional markers on 18 carries.

Berry, who caught six of Williams’ 12 passes on the evening, took four of the six catches he had for touchdowns as the sophomore racked up 165 yards receiving in a career outing for Berry.

Fernando Poxes caught five passes for 61 yards and a touchdown while Jemarkus Parker ran for 62 yards on 18 carries to round out Portsmouth’s main offensive contributors.

Portsmouth (2-5, 2-2 OVC) hosts Rock Hill (1-6, 0-3 OVC) on Friday at Trojan Coliseum.
