The Seattle Seahawks secured a hard-fought 30-23 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4, but the biggest headline on defense was safety Nick Emmanwori proving he is completely back at full strength in front of the home crowd. After undergoing ankle surgery in July, the dynamic defensive back dominated across the field, recording nine tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, two quarterback hits, and a pass defended.

Seattle took a remarkably patient approach with Emmanwori’s recovery, slowly ramping up his workload during the opening weeks of the regular season rather than forcing him into a full snap count right away. Speaking with reporter Gregg Bell following Sunday’s home victory, Emmanwori expressed deep appreciation for how head coach Mike Macdonald and the organization handled his return to action.

“1-of-a-kind organization,” Emmanwori said. “A lot of teams would have just thrown me back out there, especially with my talent. Really appreciate them being smart… being considerate of me.”

That organizational patience paid off in a big way at Lumen Field. Emmanwori anchored a secondary that constantly harassed Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who finished with 189 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions while taking four sacks. Offensively, Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold delivered a steady performance by throwing for 168 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Emanuel Wilson energized the ground game with 81 rushing yards and two total touchdowns.

Linebacker Ernest Jones IV also set the tone for Seattle’s defense, racking up a game-high 12 tackles, one sack, and a key interception. Safety Julian Love added five tackles to keep Los Angeles out of rhythm late.

Seattle’s deliberate rehab strategy with Emmanwori is already paying massive dividends for the franchise. By prioritizing his long-term health over quick fixes, the Seahawks now boast a fully healthy, game-changing playmaker in their secondary ready to wreak havoc for the rest of the 2026 campaign.
