Cooper suffered the injury with 8:43 remaining in the third quarter while pursuing quarterback Jalon Daniels. The Packers ruled him out shortly afterward, and he needed a cart to leave the field.

Matt LaFleur later provided a concerning update on Cooper’s condition. The Packers coach suspects the linebacker could miss the rest of the season, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. Ian Rapoport also reported the injury concern on Sunday.

Cooper entered Week 4 after clearing the concussion protocol and returning to the Packers’ active lineup. He had already made an impact before leaving Sunday’s game, recording nine tackles, one sack, one quarterback hit, one interception and one pass defensed.

The injury came on a non-contact play, which immediately raised concern about the severity. Green Bay quickly identified it as an Achilles injury and ruled Cooper out for the remainder of the game.

LaFleur’s update then raised the possibility of a season-ending injury. The Packers have not yet announced a final diagnosis or confirmed a surgical plan, so Cooper’s status remains subject to further medical evaluation.

The potential loss would leave Green Bay without one of its most important young defensive players. Cooper has developed into a versatile linebacker who can defend the run, cover receivers and rush the passer.

Packers already dealing with several injury setbacks

Cooper’s injury adds to a difficult stretch for the Packers. Wide receiver Jayden Reed recently underwent season-ending neck surgery after suffering his injury against the New York Jets in Week 2. Green Bay placed Reed on injured reserve after Matt LaFleur confirmed the need for surgery.

The Packers also placed defensive tackle Warren Brinson on injured reserve before Sunday’s game. Offensive lineman Zach Bako-Bewele also underwent season-ending surgery earlier in the season.

Green Bay entered Sunday at 1-2 and needed a strong performance against Tampa Bay. The Packers ultimately won 17-14, but Cooper’s injury could overshadow the result if further testing confirms the worst-case scenario.

Green Bay will await a definitive medical diagnosis before determining how long Cooper will be unavailable. Isaiah McDuffie is expected to have a larger role if Cooper misses extended time..
